8.5

Now that the little miss knows how to sit herself up, we struggle to take naps every day. It's a constant fight between wanting to play and wanting to sleep and all I hear is this..WWAAAHHH! So frustrating. But eventually she does fall asleep. And that is nice.

This last month Sage has learned many new things which include: Crawling, sitting herself up, doing the chinese splits, and chasing after the poor, unforgiving cats. I say unforgiving because once she gets a hold on the poor things, they attack with swats and every now and then little nips. Do I do anything? Nope. She will learn. Eventually.
She now weighs 16lbs. 8oz.
She loves her momma..yes me. :)
She loves reading books.
And she absolutely loves...yogurt.
Happy 8 1/2 months Sage!

Laundry revisited

I no longer hate laundry..as long as I'm getting help like this..

Thanks Sage for folding daddy's garments..

The "new" grin.

Sage has this new grin where she wrinkles up her nose, looks up into the air, squints her eyes, and does a crazy grin.
It looks a little something like this:

I. Love. it.

7-ish.

I completely missed marking the little miss's 7th month. With all the chaos of Christmas, my birthday, and New Year's I never got around to it..so here it is in all it's glory..about 7-ish months.

Length: 28 inches

Weight: 15lbs 11oz.

This kiddo really is growing fast and I wish time would just stand still for a moment or two. This past month and a half Sage has developed so many new skills that are bittersweet to think about but thrilling at the same time. She's started talking and can now say mama, dada, once in awhile nana, and pop if she's in the right mood..seriously?..where did my newborn go? She sits up on her own, pulls herself up to her knees, puts her binki in all by herself with her eyes closed, at night. What a BIG girl! We love that she does this because it means less getting up for me when she realizes she's lost it..which means more sleep for momma..which means happier me in the morning!

This is now her new favorite way to sleep..scary I know.

This is definitely going to take some getting used to.

And here is some Christmas -and others- in all its randomness..

Sage has this massive underbite when she's really excited so I nicknamed her bulldog Betty..here she is with her bulldog look-alike so kindly given to her by uncle Jess.

This was taken when she was 3 months..but I just found it and thought it was post worthy.

And now for some bathtime fun!

Huh?

This would be the underbite I was talking about earlier..I secretly love it.

You think I like her a little bit?..yep I sure do.

Croup

Yep, you guessed it. Sage has croup. After listening to her cough and practically beg for air this morning I decided to call the doctor. Now I know you're probably thinking what a horrible mom I am for waiting this long to take her to the doctor..but..I didn't want to take her and have him tell me that it was just another cold and to keep doing what I was doing. (keep in mind this is the 3rd time I've taken Sage in for being sick. By now I know the routine.)

Anyways, turns out she has croup. What is croup you say? Well let me just copy and paste what the handy dandy little internet says about it. Croup:
Croup is a condition that causes an inflammation of the upper airways — the voice box (larynx) and windpipe (trachea). It often leads to a barking cough or hoarseness, especially when a child cries.

Sage is
very hoarse, struggles to breathe, and has a tremendous, awful, terrible, heart wrenching cough. Poor girl.

Moral of the story: Take your kid to the doctor when they have these symptoms. Apparently if croup goes untreated for too long it can be fatal. Glad I earned the good mom award today and took her to the doctor.

Teething..

As I dropped my head to my pillow last night I couldn't fight the feeling of exhaustion that had consumed my entire body. BUT as the minutes and soon hours ticked by I found myself staring at the clock. I clearly remember it saying 12:06am. Just then I started to doze..but was soon awakened by what would normally be cute little babbles, giggles, and the word mama coming through the baby monitor. At this hour they were no longer cute but were the dreaded sounds of Sage in her wide awakeness. kill me.
Off I wandered down the hall and into her room to find her grinning and playing with her toes. Why was she awake I thought. ??? Then it occurred to me, of course, she's sick and teething! Oh how I HATE teething. So down the stairs we went to watch a movie (normally I would have just layed her back down and forced her to sleep..but once Sage is awake, she's awake..for 2 more hours!) So at 2am..I trudged back up the stairs with my now sleepy child..fed her..gave her some tylenol and went back to bed.
4:30. I peel one eye open to look at the clock and then roll out of bed for the not first, but second time since I put Sage back to bed. She'd lost her binky. Plop..back in the mouth..and back to bed I went.
In my naive little mind I thought, "Sage usually sleeps for 10 hours..so technically since she went to bed at 2 she should sleep until noon or so..wrong. At her usual wake up time, 7:30, she was wide awake. Why? I don't know. But today I feel like crap, can't sleep, and right now she's crashed in her crib.

End of story.

My little pioneer baby.

Some of you may know that Sage got her middle name Elizabeth from a pioneer woman named Elizabeth Jackson. One day in my boredom I was going through Sage's clothes and found this cute bonnet that used to be my mom's. She looked like the cutest little pioneer baby in it. Maybe, just maybe, she was meant to be a pioneer girl after all..she would have been the cutest girl in the wagon train.

one of these days we'll have pictures without spit-up :)

Sage: It's what cute is.

I couldn't resist putting Sage in her bikini so I could get a snapshot of her splashing in the tub! I think it's time we take this kiddo swimming..she LOVES the water almost as much as I love her in this swimsuit.

She does have feet..I promise..I'm just a bad picture taker.

6 months..REALLY?!

It's been 6 months since this not-so-chubbaroo entered our lives and flipped everything upside-down and into place.

Current stats are as followed:

Weight: 14lbs. 4oz. - 19th percentile
Length: 27 inches - get this..91st percentile! What a long little lizard she be!
Head Circumference: I'm not sure how big her head measures but it jumped from the 1st percentile 2 months ago to the 14th percentile this month! I think her brain has been a growin!

New accomplishments this month:
Rolling Over! - this is where the brain enlargement begins.
Holding her own bottle.
Sprouting teeth. - these still are just sitting there waiting to come through..we have now joined the number of families who have be-friended and now praise teething tablets..they are our best friends..if you ever have questions about how to calm a teething baby, we finally have the answers! Sorry to all the family who had to hear Sage screaming over Thanksgiving when we didn't have the answers.
Playing with the frog toy. - to all of you this means nothing but to Quinn and me it means quite a bit more than that. Since Sage was 3 1/2 months she's been playing in her exersaucer and has never been able to get the frog toy figured out. All you have to do is push down on it's head and balls spin around in it's belly..yup she finally gets it!
Sleeping without a swaddle! - another HUGE accomplishment. We're still working on shortening how long it takes her to fall asleep and how many times I have to go back and give her her Binky but it's coming along rather nicely.

To end I'll leave you with my newest favorite picture of Sage. My friend Jess Peterson took these pictures and we both thought of a baby on a Gerber bottle when we saw this funny face. What a silly kid she is!

Thanks for reading! We love you all and hope you have a Merry Christmas!
